DIRECTIONS: FROM I 81, GO WEST ON RT. 7. TURN RIGHT ON FT. COLLIER ROAD (BESIDE ARBY’S). THE SHELTER IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE JAIL AT 161 FT. COLLIER RD., WINCHESTER, VA.

TESTING CONSISTS OF:

1. Accepting a friendly stranger

2. Sitting politely for petting

3. Appearance and grooming

4. Walking on a loose leash

5. Walking through a crowd

6. Sit and down on command/staying in place

7. Coming when called

8. Reaction to another dog

9. Reactions to distractions

10. Supervised separation

Additional requirements for TDI:

Must be tested around medical equipment and will be evaluated on the dog reacts to people with an irregular gait, a cough, etc. Dog must ignore food dropped on the ground. Must be willing to work around children.

For both tests, dogs must be on a plain buckle collar or snap-around, and no food rewards are allowed. For TDI, the dog must be at least 1 yr. old. Shot records must be presented before the dog is tested.

Registration for Agility Session 3

The registration period for the third session of agility training classes opens on August 6 and will close on August 13. Applications are processed on a first received basis a lot like entering an agility trial. If your application arrives prior to August 6th, it will be rejected.

Make sure that your application is complete and you include:

The completed registration form

A copy of the rabies certificate

A check for the proper amount

Fall AKC Agility Trial Premium

The premium for the Fall AKC Agility Trial is now available. The trials will be held on October 18&19, 2008 at the Cedar Run Horse Center in Woodbridge, VA. The trials open on August 30. Click on the links below:

You can also download the files from the Downloads Page and the Event page.

The computer fillable forms are slightly different from the ones in the premium since they are optimized for filling out on your computer. Just fill out and print. (Note for Mac users, use Adobe Reader rather than Preview to view the computer fillable forms since Preview does not handle forms well)

Make sure that you include the Cedar Ruh Horse Center release form with your entry.

August/Septermber Meeting

There is no meeting for the Months of July and August. However, since the first Monday in September is a Holiday, the September meeting is held on the last Monday of August.
